last value that I want to talk about
today's commitment to excellence you
know it's a tough one it's a tough one
because a lot of people who put out all
of you are amazing right you all do
excellent work that's why you're here
but a lot of people think mediocrity is
excellence why because they work hard
people who work with me every day I
always tell them I don't care how many
hours you work I care about what you
produce and how you perform you could
work 14 hours a day if your student
attrition is 6% you're terrible and you
could work eight hours a day if your
student attrition is 2% you are amazing
so it's not about labor it's about
performance
we appreciate hard work but we want we
push we drive for results you know why
because our students deserve it our
students come to us they give their
lives they we borrow their lives for
eight months nine months it's on well
would they are borrow to us they give us
they have faith in us when we do great
that means you came through but when you
fail them we fail as one every student
who drops out of school is our failure
does that make sense so put all that
stuff in your head you know all these
things in your head it's the devil in
your head that focuses on cynicism
skepticism negativity fight that and
focus on the student and focus on the
cause focus on winning
for the student they deserve it be
obsessed with your students be obsessed
with your graduates and when you do that
that's when you start feeling that
commitment to excellence
you've gotta develop a relationship
hopefully it will end in marriage of
being committed to excellence in
everything that you do
but that's demonstrated through the
results in retention in admissions in
Student Finance in the business office
and in Career Services it's that
commitment to excellence and not
accepting anything less and those of you
who are here know what excellence looks
like because you have met and most of
you have exceeded expectations to be
here but you have to tell everybody
around you what excellence looks like it
all starts with your behavior and how
you carry yourself that's what
leadership is right if you have 10
negative people around you be the only
positive person you are the person in
effect by result the leader of that
group because you could have a million
legitimate reasons for failing failing
our students but you only need one or
two reasons to do well but you have to
be positive and you have to be powerful
and you have to be committed right again
it all starts here and then it
transcends make sense and please please
please try to find and recruit people to
come join IEC this is a fantastic time
to be with this organization
